Zac & Faye Take Top Awards

The Barking & Dagenham Redfins Trophy Gala on Saturday 28th January 2012 saw Zac Mashford and Faye Brumby named as Top Boy & Top Girl for the whole gala. Both had a long night competing in many events, notably both swam the 200 IM with Zac also swimming the 200 Free and Back. Faye bravely took on the 200 Fly and finished a brilliant 2nd.
RADS had nearly 60 swimmers competing, finishing 2nd overall after some excellent performances from both young and old.

Masters news Item... 18th November 2011

European Record for Eileen!

Well done to RADS masters swimmer Eileen Luther who was part of the Sussex Martlets team which set a new European record of 11.30.70 in the 240-279yrs 800m freestyle at the 2011 GB Masters held at Ponds Forge Sheffield over three days (28th to 30th October).

RADS Win Top Honours at Rochford District Sports Awards

RADS members won three of the top awards at the 2011 Rochford & District Sports awards held at The Mill Hall Rayleigh on 13th October 2011.
RADS head coach Doug Drake won the Services to Sport award, having coached for over 25 years, and Jo-Jo Cranfield won the Disability Sports Personality of the Year award. Finally, the top award of the evening went to RADS Masters swimmer Phil Harper, who scooped the Sports Personality of the Year award. After being presented with his award, 66-year-old Phil said: “I was so surprised to win, it just goes to show that age is no barrier when it comes to sport. You just have to have the motivation and ambition to achieve your goals.”
